Monster Month of Giveaways--Faerie Week!

***EDIT: The deadline for the Faerie Week contest is OCT 30th, sorry for the earlier mistake! Darn those mischievous Faeries!!
***ZOMBIE week ends in a few short hours--deadline Oct 23 midnight***

!!!!WIN!!!!WIN!!!WIN!!!WIN!!!WIN!!!WIN!!!

I can't believe we're finally to Faerie Week! Seems like I've been wanting to post this contest week forever!! And you know what else will be like forever? Having to wait for Fairy Lust to come out--because it won't until like the end of June. Is that not the most cruelest thing you've ever heard?!?! I know!

Which is why, Auntie Brookie is going to be your super.cool fairy blogmother! (the dot was a typo, but I kind of like it(dot)love it. Huh?Huh? A new catch(dot)phrase maybe? No? You want me to stop right now? Fine.)

So, anyhoo--These ARCs are so brand spanking new the wings on the cover are still wet and Cyn Balog only has a few, but since she's also super.cool she's giving a signed one to our Grand Prize Winner! Squee!!!!

So how do you win, you ask--very simple--you leave a comment in which you answer one or both of the following questions (Deadline to enter Oct. 30, midnight CST):

1. In the spirit of How to Ditch Your Fairy (featured in Prize Pack #2!!!)--If you could have a personal fairy, what would their special powers be? (For instance in Justine's book the MC has a Parking Fairy who makes sure she gets the very best parking spots)

2. Tell me about something that has happened that you believe to be the work (or mischief) of faeries.

All entries will automatically roll over into the Paranormal Power Ball cauldron--for more info on the Power Ball prize or how to earn lots of extra entries go here and here!

FAIRY LUST by Cyn Balog:

Morgan Sparks and Cam Browne are a match made in heaven. They've been best friends since birth, they tell each other everything, and oh yeah- they're totally hot for each other.

But a week before their joint Sweet Sixteen bash, everything changes. Cam's awkward cousin Pip comes to stay, and Morgan is stunned when her formerly perfect boyfriend seems to be drifting away.

When Morgan demands answers, she's shocked to discover the source of Cam's distance isn't another girl- it's another world. Pip claims that Cam is a fairy. No, seriously. A fairy. And now his people want Cam to return to their world and take his rightful place as Fairy King.

Determined to keep Cam with her, Morgan plots to fool the fairies. But as Cam continues to change, she has to decide once and for all if he really is her destiny, and if their “perfect” love can weather an uncertain future.

Lament: The Faerie Queen's Deception by Maggie Stiefvater

Sixteen-year-old Deirdre Monaghan is a painfully shy but prodigiously gifted musician. She's about to find out she's also a cloverhand - one who can see faeries. Deirdre finds herself infatuated with a mysterious boy who enters her ordinary suburban life, seemingly out of thin air. Trouble is, the enigmatic and gorgeous Luke turns out to be a gallowglass - a soulless faerie assassin. An equally hunky - and equally dangerous - dark faerie soldier named Aodhan is also stalking Deirdre.Sworn enemies, Luke and Aodhan each have a deadly assignment from the Faerie Queen. Namely, kill Deirdre before her music captures the attention of the Fae and threatens the Queen's sovereignty. Caught in the crossfire with Deirdre is James, her wisecracking but loyal best friend. Deirdre had been wishing her life weren't so dull, but getting trapped in the middle of a centuries-old faerie war isn't exactly what she had in mind. "Lament" is a dark faerie fantasy that features authentic Celtic faerie lore, plus cover art and interior illustrations by acclaimed faerie artist Julia Jeffrey.

***Maggie will be sending the winner a signed book plate as well!! YAY!

Rue Silver's mother has disappeared . . . and her father has been arrested, suspected of killing her. But it's not as straightforward as that. Because Rue is a faerie, like her mother was. And her father didn't kill her mother -- instead, he broke a promise to Rue's faerie king grandfather, which caused Rue's mother to be flung back to the faerie world. Now Rue must go to save her -- and must also defeat a dark faerie that threatens our very mortal world.

How to Ditch Your Fairy by Justine Larbalestier:

Welcome to New Avalon, where everyone has a personal fairy. Though invisible to the naked eye, a personal fairy, like a specialized good luck charm, is vital to success. And in the case of the students at New Avalon Sports High, it might just determine whether you make the team, pass a class, or find that perfect outfit. But for 14-year-old Charlie, having a Parking Fairy is worse than having nothing at all—especially when the school bully carts her around like his own personal parking pass. Enter: The Plan. At first, teaming up with arch-enemy Fiorenza (who has an All-The-Boys-Like-You Fairy) seems like a great idea. But when Charlie unexpectedly gets her heart’s desire, it isn’t at all what she thought it would be like, and she’ll have resort to extraordinary measures to ditch her fairy. The question is: will Charlie herself survive the fairy ditching experiment? From the author of the acclaimed Magic or Madness trilogy, this is a delightful story of fairies, friendships, and figuring out how to make your own magic.

The Faerie Path by Frewin Jones :

Swept away into a court of magic and beauty, she discovers she is Tania, the lost princess of Faerie. Since Tania's mysterious disappearance five hundred years before, Faerie has been sunk in darkness and gloom. With her return, Faerie comes alive again as a land of winged children, glittering balls, and fantastic delights. But Tania can't forget Anita's world, or the boy she loved there.

Torn between two loves and between two worlds, Tania slowly remembers why she disappeared, and realizes that she is the only one who can stop a sinister plan that threatens the entire world of Faerie.

These reminded me sooo much of the gorgy ones on Cyn's cover--if I'd kept them for myself I'd wear them when baking cupcakes or affix them to the top of my bookshelf. *sheds a tiny tear of jealousy for the winner*
Love these prints! This one reminds me of Kelly Parra's Graffiti Girl

The skull detail makes the wand, don't you think?
GOOD LUCK to all and THANK YOU for commenting and spreading the word!

I'm loving that Glamourkin pendant that says "In the Court of Dark Shadows" It's just amazing! haha I can see why it'd be so hard to giveaway, but i'm glad you are!! Whoever wins this week is lucky :)

Oh man, I am so sad that my ARCs weren't ready for your Faerie week. They were supposed to be but . . . well . . . that's a very long story. But I'm so excited about the other faerie books that are out and coming out!!

1.) I would love to have a clothes faerie. I would love to be one of those people who always has clothes that look great on them! (Superficial, yes, but it's my fantasy!;))

2.) When my mother comes to visit she brings faeries with her and *poof* suddenly my house is clean! I love those faeries!

Hi Brooke,

My personal fairy would do my hair, make up, & pick out clothes for me each & everyday! My hubby would love this!!!

I wrote a novel last year for NaNoWriMo, so I need an Editing Fairy that will help me fix it up enough to send out to try to get an agent and ultimately get it published.

This is the first week I'm entering, but a couple weeks ago I added you to my list of blogs I follow (plus my bloglines account) after reading about it on my sister's blog (hi Kris!).

Oh, my! Such an irresistible giveaway you have here!

So,

1)Morbid as it sounds, I would like to have a medium fairy who could help me communicate with the spirits of those who have passed on. I think it would be great to ask any question of any person you were curious about and get a real answer.

2)I've had animals look at me in odd ways that can't be entirely animal-like. Nor human, either. No better way to explain it than that. But definitely gave me a fey chill. :)

Wandered over from Maggies' blog. :)

1. I already have a Parking Fairy, so... a Be-Less-Dorky fairy? I don't know.

2. Back in elementary school, I used to always find shiny metallic four leaf clovers in my locker. I never did see anyone put them in, but there was a new one every few days. Fairies? Who knows.

B said...

Ohh my fairy would just sit around and read to me. :)

Liviania said...

1. My fairy would give me omnipotence. Okay, so that's my standard answer to the superpower question and doesn't lend itself as well to a fairy, but I stand by my answer.

2. Ooh, long list. I'm Irish, y'know. (Well, part. I'm American after all.) I think the fey like to steal bits of my time. Whenever I relax in my dorm room it just goes by too fast.

Fairy Lust looks utterly fab. So . . . *crosses fingers*

Stephanie Denise Brown said...

#1. I would have a coif faerie. No bad hair days for me! My coif faerie would keep my tresses soft and shiny.

#2. I keep losing pens. Something tells me there's a faerie who steals them to write her own books.

1. If I had a personal fairy, it would be a Random Cravings Fairy. So if I'm dying for chocolate, bling! Chocolates on a platter. Or cheese. Or pizza. You get the idea.

2. Mischief of fairies? Every time I've lost my keys, or cellphone, or something else small and vital. There's got to be a little fairy laughing and jingling them.

And I agree with Lauren. I want my fairy to teleport me to wherever I want to go. That'd be super cool.

Peta Jinnath Andersen said...

1. I'd like a tale-weaving fairy. Tale-weaving fairies are rare, because they have the power to change real life events through story.

To take the parking example: I'm circling around a parking lot, looking for a spot. Instead of simply asking for a spot, I tell myself a story in which I find one and--shazam!--the story comes to be.

2.I think there might be a little fairy magic going on whenever my photographs--particularly those of mushrooms--turn out well...

Peta Jinnath Andersen said...

I've also added this to the Les Bonnes Fees Blog. I hope that's okay.

Anonymous said...

I hope this isn't too late.

The fairy I do have is very similar to Charlie's, except that I don't get the best parking spot. I can just park really well for someone who has only been driving since May.

1. The fairy I wish I had...a perfume fairy. Kind of like a clothes shopping fairy, but it would let me know when a perfume is perfect for me and melds perfectly with my "Hillary Scent", as my friends say. I can never find the right perfume! I love so many of them, but none that compliment me.

2. What the fey have done to me is steal all my favorite toys and jeans. My favorite doll from when I was two, and every year I lose my latest pair if carefully worn out holey jeans, you know the pair, the one that makes you feel comy no matter what situation your in, but has holes in the butt, groin, and knee. Well, every year since I was 12 the latest pair goes missing! For a while I thought it was my parents, but when I asked them they thought I was crazy, and rightly so, they don't care about that stuff, then I asked my brother and he said "ME TOO!" HIS PANTS GO MISSING ALSO!
How random is that?

Anonymous said...

My faeries special power would be either cleaning, seeing the future (to help with decision making) or just being a great friend(I don't come by to many of those).

Something I think faeries had a part in is my mother-in-law. She used to call a couple times a week and visit us constantly, She'd even surprise us on random days. But the last couple of months she's stopped completely. I am completely baffaled at why she stopped. She's quite a social woman and she's been like this since we got married 3 yrs ago. So I can only come up with faerie dust. They must sneaked up on her something and transformed my mother-in-law those little rascals. ****side note- I am now following your blog.

Firstly, I want to say if I don't win something I'm going to cry! You seriously have put together amazing prizes!

1. In the spirit of How to Ditch Your Fairy (featured in Prize Pack #2!!!)--If you could have a personal fairy, what would their special powers be? (For instance in Justine's book the MC has a Parking Fairy who makes sure she gets the very best parking spots)

I would want a fairy that sped up my metabolism anytime I needed it so that I could eat whatever I wanted. ;) All chocolate diet here I come!

2. Tell me about something that has happened that you believe to be the work (or mischief) of faeries.

I am constantly losing my keys and chapstick. I swear I put it one place and find it in another place entirely. I think my house has a Brownie, as described in the Spiderwick Chronicles.

OOOH! If you let me win I will totally wear the wings while making cupcakes! Such a fun prize pack.

I would have a fairy that told me the names and contact info of all new authors who would be willing to send me ARCs and do Q&A's on my blog! That way I'd get lots more to do, and save lots of online searching time!

Aprilynne, I have been a fan of yours for a while and I am SOOOOO looking forward to your book! Sadness that the ARC wasn't ready for this because it would have been GREAT to win!

I have a fairy in my life, she's my 6 month old daughter, and she is going to be a flower fairy for Halloween. Now I know that magic exists, because she does.

My secret fairies powers would be mind reading. Then I would know what everyone was thinking. It would be very interesting.

I also think I have have a sock thief fairie around my house. I can never find any socks. Thanks!

Personally, I think a parking fairy would be pretty sweet.

But I'd rather have a buttered-toast-and-tea fairy. Who would appear only on cold rainy mornings when the car won't start, the dog refuses to go outside and leaves a mess on the carpet, and I'm faced with mounds and mounds of laundry that simply must be done yesterday. Then my fairy would *poof* into existence, tuck me into the sofa under a nice cozy afghan with tea and buttered toast and an excellent book (like one of these prize packs, hint hint) and murmur "There, there."

Or else a laser flamethrower fairy. That would be AWESOME.

Oooh..i want a fairy that will remove all the lunchtime queues! If I win this, I believe it is the work of fairies! :P

YAY Fairy week! Ok if I had a personal fairy it would be a pastry fairy lol... now here's why! I have a huge sweet tooth, and I try not to keep a ton of junk in the house b/c I want my 2 year old to eat healthy (one of us should) so if I had a pastry fairy I could have chocolate cake, strawberry cheesecake, or peanut butter fudge anytime without having to make it myself and worry about the left overs reaching him lol! Granted he does get his share of sweets so he's not totally deprived we do live right by a Dairy Queen after all :)

I belive that whenever my hubby lets me sleep in on his days off to get up with Austin, that that is the work of some very nice fairies :)

The work of fairies in my own life? Whenever I turn to grab something I just put down - like keys - and they're gone. And it's always right when I'm about to be late for work. I think it's the fairies' way of telling me to stay home and have fun with writing.

My fairy would be a house-cleaning, laundry-folding, kid-bathing, hair-drying, clothes-shopping wizard!

1. If I had a personal fairy I'd like to be able to transport wherever I want to. My family lives in Georgia and I only get to see them two or three times a year and to do so hubby and I have to drive 6 hours. Not fun!

If I could have a personal fairy I would want it to be a Fabric Fairy. She would sleep in a pillbox sized case, lined with silk and satin, that I could keep in my bag. Her powers would consist of making sure any fabric I owned was well taken care of and fit my needs perfectly. She would be able to do the wash and then fold/hang up the clean loads, be able to get out wrinkles at a moment's notice and get rid of any stain, spaghetti sauce stain, grass stain, pit stain or otherwise. Also, if for some reason my clothes weren't fitting properly that day, she could weave in a few stitches here and take out a few there to make sure all my clothes fit perfectly all the time. Of course, she'd be a wonderful style consultant too.

In my life I see snow and frost as the work of fairies. Even though most people see winter as a time when everything is cold and dead I just notice how everything shimmers with tiny crystals- if that's not the work of some kind of fairy, I don't know what would be!
